Real Madrid Linked Again With Onyewu
With less than a month to go before the next transfer window re-opens, reports are surfacing that Real Madrid are interested in the services Standard Liege's American international.
Right after the summer transfer window concluded, Spanish daily Marca reported Real Madrid had made an 11th hour approach to Standard Liege for defender Oguchi Onyewu. However, the Belgian outfit rejected the offer because they lacked the necessary time to arrange for a replacement.

Onyewu, known affectionately as "Gooch" by American die-hards, has been a star defender in the Jupiler League since moving north from France. The 24-year-old was named in the Belgian league's starting eleven at the end of the 2005/06 season.
Transfer figures over any Real Madrid offer to Standard Liege vary from $5.25 million to $8 million.
Standard Liege boss Michel Preu'dhomme was quoted in Het Laaste Nieuws recently saying, "A transfer is now open to discussion
